London League
The Triathlon London League started in 2006. It is a series of races each season — duathlons, aquathlons and triathlons — organised by clubs in the London area. At each race, points can be gained by club members in a variety of ways. All that you need to do is enter the race(s) as normal and enter London Fields Triathlon Club as your club and you will be instantly scoring points for LFTC!
There are a number of competitions taking place. While we have had individual age group winners and our women’s team has won the league in the past, the men’s team has not and we have yet to take out the big one – the mixed team competition. The races are great because they are relatively cheap, well organised and normally transport is not a major issue.
Please wear club kit if possible so that you know who your team-mates are and so other clubs can see who we are. Keep an eye on Facebook page and the newsletter for more info about race entries opening and the coordination of club transport to and from the race — very handy if you are new to racing in the league!
Check out race season page for specific races we’re targeting this year and read more on the British Triathlon website.
Team competitions
Male — the first three triathletes from each club to finish count for a maximum score. Two scoring triathletes will also count but the team won’t be able to score maximum points. Teams with three finishers will be ranked in order then the teams with two finishers will then be ranked below the teams of three scorers.
Female — the first three triathletes from each club to finish count for a maximum score. Two scoring triathletes will also count but the team won’t be able to score maxium points. Teams with three finishers will be ranked in order then the teams with two finishers will then be ranked below the teams of three scorers.
Mixed — the first three male and first three females to finish count. Note that you can count for both the mixed team and the single gender team. Teams with less than five triathletes (3 males and 2 females) do not score.
Age group competition
This is across all age groups as defined by Triathlon England, i.e. 25-29, 30-34 etc. (age on 31st December).
Triathletes in each age group will score points with the same scoring system as the Team competitions. The race winner picks up 1 point, 2nd placed athlete 2 points, etc for the whole race. The best four events over the season to count, one must be a triathlon, and the overall place you finish in determines the points scored. The lowest points total wins.
Paratriathlon
New from 2015, in addition to scoring in the other competitions there will be one point awarded for every Paratri competitor with a league event finish. The male and female athlete with the most points wins the Paratri League award.
